POSITIVE SELF-TALK

Standard

Changing how you think is always something that can be difficult, especially when there have been negative statements said to you throughout your life or that you have said to yourself.  The devil is really great at taking one statement and growing that in your mind until you really start to believe it!  God doesn’t want the Devil taking over our thoughts.  He wants us to believe in ourselves and he wants to use your life to glorify him!  We are here for God’s purpose.  We cannot fulfill His purpose for our lives if we do not believe in or talk badly about ourselves!

So, you are probably asking me; “What do I do then?”

It all starts with Positive Self-Talk!  Ok, it sounds a lot cheesier than it really is.  Positive Self-Talk is when you turn a negative statement that you say about yourself and then turn it into something positive.  For example, “I can’t do this; I will never be good at it!”   Ok, that is the negative statement, here is the positive statement:  “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”  TA DAA!!!  I know it is easier said than done, but I actually have used this many times in my life.  It takes practice.  Change is always hard but we have to remember that anything worth changing takes hard work.

I am going to give you all a challenge.  Once a day, I want you to look in the mirror and say something positive about yourself.  I want you to repeat it 3 times.    You can do the same one for a week or a different one each day. It depends on what you want to change.  When you start to do this consistently, you will be surprised how great you feel about yourself.  Let me know how it goes!

“For I know the plans I have for you, “says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
